19TH CENTURY CAMPHOR CAMPAIGN MILITARY SPLIT CHEST OF DRAWERS DESK CIRCA 1850.
FANTASTIC COLOURED CHEST/DESK IN CAMPHOR WOOD. SPLITS IN 2 HALVES, BOTTOM SECTION HOUSES 2 LARGE DRAWERS, TOP SECTION COMPRISES OF 1 LARGE DRAWER AND 4 SMALL DRAWERS WHICH SIT ALONGSIDE THE PULLOUT WRITING SLOPE/BUREAU. THE WRITING SLOPE HAS RECENTLY BEEN RECOVERED, TOP PULLS OUT AND DROPS DOWN TO FORM THE SLOPE, THEN SPLITS BOTH WAYS TO REVEAL A STORAGE SPACE TO THE FRONT AND A WELL AND PIGEON HOLES TO THE BACK. VERY HEAVY.
RETAINS ITS CAMPHOR WOOD SMELL.
MINOR SURFACE STAINS AND MARKS FROM USE, 2 MINOR AGE SPLITS TO TOP SURFACE.
