BIRCH CABINET BY AXEL LARSSON FOR AB SVENSKA MOBELFABRIKERNA BODAFORS CIRCA 1930.
DESIGNED BY AXEL LARSSON (1898-1975) LARSSON WORKED EXCLUSIVELY FOR BODAFORS FROM 1925 TO 1956 BEFORE LEAVING TO START HIS OWN COMPANY.
A FINE EXAMPLE OF THE ART DECO PERIOD SHIFTING TOWARDS MODERN IN SCANDINAVIA. THIS CABINET/SIDEBOARD WOULD BE IDEAL FOR STORAGE IN THE THE DINING ROOM.
DROP DOWN DOOR WITH BRASS HANDLE OPENS TO REVEAL A SHALLOW SHELF INSIDE, WITH A BANK OF 5 GRADUATING DRAWERS TO THE SIDE. BELOW THE DRAWERS IS A SINGLE DOOR CUPBOARD CONTAINING 4 FITTED DRAWER SLIDES. STORAGE IS COMPLETE WITH A DOUBLE DOOR CUPBOARD TO THE LEFT WHICH CONTAINS A FURTHER 2 SHELVES.
CABINET IS SUPPORTED BY A SHORT FRAME AND 4 FLUTED LEGS.
MAKERS LABEL ON THE INSIDE OF DOOR WHICH READS A.B SVENSKA MODELFABRIKERNA BODAFORS.
RICH GOLDEN COLOUR WITH LATER CONTRASTING STAINED BIRCH TOP AND SIDES. THIS PIECE HAS BEEN RE-FINISHED. EXPECTED SURFACE MARKS TO SIDES WHICH ARE PHOTOGRAPHED. OTHERWISE IN VERY GOOD OVERALL CONDITION.
